Babe Scott is an acclaimed Australian talk show personality and magazine publisher famous for turning her expertise in dating and food into multi-million dollar commercial media ventures.
In the 2000s Babe became one of the most recognized dating experts in Australia as a regular guest on top rated morning shows such as Sunrise, Mornings with Kerri-Anne (Australia’s answer to Barbara Walters) and 9am, and as the editor of the glossy singles’ bible, the Dating Survival Guide.
Babe has also conceived and launched upwards of 40 consumer and customer magazine titles. Her newsstand successes include the hugely popular Nightlife in Sydney and Nightlife in Melbourne guides and City Life, a Sydney version of Time Out.
After these early successes, she launched her own publishing company, Propaganda Print, at the age of 23 from an airless garage on an old Macintosh. The company eventually grew to a staff of ten with 30 corporate magazine titles and cookbooks in Australia and Indonesia in its stable. In this role, Babe conceived and launched Weight Watchers magazine, now worth millions and the highest selling title in the health and lifestyle category. She also launched the organization’s bestselling cookbook series Cooking Lite as well as a range of cookbooks for other companies including McWilliams Wines and Southcorp Whitegoods.
In 2002 Babe sold Propaganda to Text Media and worked for them as New Business Director creating new custom and newsstand titles. Babe left this position to launch a new women’s fashion and lifestyle magazine eponymously titled Babe for Australia’s second biggest publisher, Pac Pubs, capitalizing on her expertise in launching original media projects. While the title was shelved due to a company restructure, the research this title entailed gave Babe uncommon insight into the women’s market and their major preoccupations, namely food and men.
She has channelled this wisdom into a new book called Delicious Dating: The Single Girl's Guide to Decoding Men by their Wining and Dining Styles as well as her new reality show concept America’s Sexiest Chef. In the course of researching the book, Babe has interviewed 200 men and women about the relationship between a man’s culinary style and his mating style. She has also interviewed celebrity chefs including Daniel Boulud.
Babe has made a hugely successful career out of creating media projects on topics that fuel her own passions – eating, imbibing, travelling and socializing.
She lives in New York City with her daughter Bondi.
